Mission
Poppet Theater is a performing arts nonprofit based in New Orleans, Louisiana. We focus on staging original plays by New Orleanian playwrights, created by casts and crews of New Orleanian locals, performed for New Orleanian audiences. Our goal is to support the careers of local theatermakers and to make theater accessible to local audiences. Founded in 2022 as Streetcar Collective for the Arts and reorganized in 2025 as Poppet Theater, past productions have included Human Troubles, Out of the Boil, and New Works; Old Shakespeare.

Out of the Boil
If you liked the beloved 1980s band Electric Light Orchestra, you would have loved this musical set in New Orleans featuring an ensemble cast and the most threatening crawfish boil Louisiana has ever seen. Out of the Boil made its debut in September 2024.
New Works; Old Shakespeare.
What better way to celebrate Shakespeare's 460th birthday than with a reading of a collection of new works by New Orleanian playwrights at Bar Redux? We celebrated the Bard's birthday and modern creativity on April 23rd, 2025.
Human Troubles
What happens when Dora commits herself to the psych ward at the lowest point in her life only to realize that, somehow, things CAN still get worse? This dark comedy about the darkest of times set to live piano accompaniment returned to New Orleans during December 2024 and January 2025.
